History of the North Houston Jaguars

The North Houston Jaguars began operations in 2004 by Anthony (Tony) Walter and Dian Walter with the assistance of several family members and friends. Tony Walter has been associated with little league football for over 20 years as a coach and or team president/owner. After spending many of those years in the Crosby, Texas area, the Walter's decided to start a new organization in the North Houston area to compete in the North Harris County Peewee Football League (NHCPWFL).

The inaugural year, 2004, for the Jaguars proved to be very rewarding as the teams provided a lot of tough competition and excitement around the NHCPWFL. Two teams, JV & Sr. Varsity made the playoffs. The JV team managed to finish the regular season as the number two seed in the league. More than anything, the Jaguars set a new standard for running a class organization.

In 2005, the team's second year of operation proved even more fruitful and enjoyable as the same two divisions made the playoffs once again, with the Sr. Varsity team earning the number one seed in the newly created American Conference of the NHCPWFL. Unfortunately, the Varsity team missed the playoffs by one game after overcoming several early season defeats. The JV team managed to make to the Conference Championship game before falling in a hard-fought gridiron battle. The Sr. Varsity team made it to the SuperBowl, held at W.W.Thorne Stadium, where they lost a highly competitive game.

Prior to the end of the 2005 season, Mr. Walter and several of his staff decided to leave the NHCPWFL to start a new league dedicated to the well-being of its member organizations.

In 2006, the Jaguars produced winning teams at every level for the first time in its history. All teams qualified as the conference #1 seed going into the 2006 YFL Playoffs for the American Conference. The Freshmen lost a heartbreaking game to the Broncos 16-12. The other 3 teams all won the American Conference Championship and competed in the inaugural YFL Super Bowl. The Jr. Varsity squad won the first ever Super Bowl championship for the Jaguars organization with a tough 6-0 victory over the Raiders.

The year 2006 also brought the organization into the national spotlight through the YFL's affiliation with the AAU. The YFL hosted the "Battle of the South" in which the Jaguars 3 Super Bowl teams competed. Again, taking it to all comers, the Jr. Varsity squad won the very first AAU National/Regional Championship in tackle football.

In 2007, the Jaguars stepped out further within the YFL and on the national spotlight. The organization produced two Super Bowl champions (Sophomore and JV). The Freshman and Varsity teams suffered heartbreaking losses in the Super Bowl. This was the first time that the organization had all four teams competing for the league championship in the Super Bowl.

The 2007 season concluded with the Sophomore and JV squads competing in the first AAU National Championships in Florida. Under adverse conditions, both squads took home bronze medals finishing third in the nation.

The 2008 season started with very high expectations for the entire Jaguar organization. Before the summer training camp started, long-time Jaguar member and JV head coach, Edward Hart retired from coaching to concentrate on YFL operations and family matters.  The Jaguars again won on all levels, and produced three Super Bowl teams, with the Varsity team winning the YFL Championship.  The Varsity team went on to compete in the AAU National Championship Tournament finishing in 3rd place after losing a heartbreaker in the semi-final round in double overtime.

The 2009 season began with lots of anticipation of yet another great season for the Jaguars organization. It was expected that all levels would be competitive and would be in the championship hunt by the end of the season. Those expectations were realized as there were only two games lost out of 32 regular season games between all divisions. All levels made it to the YFL playoffs, with the Freshmen and JV making it to the Super Bowl. The Varsity went on to win the AAU National Championship (Best in America and maybe the World)!!! The Varsity team didn't get enough and proceeded on to claim the Battle of the South Championship. The Team finished the year as the most prolific scoring team in YFL history and finished with an overall record of 16-2 with 13 shut outs from its stingy defense.
